Sure sign of spring: Time to prep your RV

When it's February, most recreational vehicles in our area are tucked in for winter. But for those owners who are still active with their RVs, and those who will soon "wake up" their vehicles for spring break, here are a few tips.

RV Activation

• Check the water system for leaks, sanitize the system and make sure the toilet is operating.

• Remove tape and protective coverings from all vents; open everything to see if rodents or insects got in or if you have any leaks.

• Clean and inspect the roof carefully to avoid punctures or damaging any seals; check body and window seals.

• Inspect awning fabrics and, if you clean them, make sure they're dry before rolling them back up.

• Inspect RV and tow-vehicle tires for cracks, uneven wear and foreign objects and inflate tires to cold weather pressures.

Las Vegas' best off-Strip restaurants

Mike was a seven-year disciple of Emeril Lagasse, and opened Emeril's New Orleans Fish House at the MGM Grand.

A look at each of the restaurants:

Rosemary's While Table 34 and Todd's Unique are simple, unassuming neighborhood establishments, this restaurant offers a distinct air of sophistication - in decor, service and ambience. We felt like the only Strip refugees in the other two restaurants, but it was evident here (certainly by the luxury vehicles in the parking lot) that high-rolling foodies have discovered this 7-year-old restaurant.

Some of the entree prices stray into the high $30s and the wine markups are a bit more conventional, but the payoff here is considerable.

Jordan and wife Wendy have spent much of their careers cooking in the Deep South, and the preparation styles reflect that.

Track World Cup 07-08 Round 3 - CDM

In the sprint, reigning World Champion Victoria Pendleton has had little luck getting the better of the current World Cup leader, Natallia Tsylinskaya (Belarus). Tsylinskaya eliminated the British rider in Sydney in the quarter finals, before being eliminated herself by Aussie Anna Meares. Newcomer Willy Kanis, a Dutch BMX champion, surprised everyone to get the better of Meares in the final. Pendleton found her speed in Beijing, qualifying fastest and hitting the finals against Tsylinskaya only to be defeated in two rounds, but had better luck in the keirin, winning in Sydney and now leads the World Cup in that event.

Tsylinskaya leads the sprint standings with 20 points to Kanis and Meares' 17, but it remains to be seen who will come to Los Angeles seeking points and who will save the jet lag and hedge their bets on the next round in Copenhagen.

Sharon Bush defends alleged JFK love child

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush's former sister-in-law has defended a man in Canada publicized as the love child of President John Kennedy, Vancouver media reported.

Sharon Bush, the former wife of the president's brother, Neil, told British Columbia's Vancouver Sun media scrutiny and criticism of Jack Worthington was unfounded, as she dated him after her divorce and knew him well.

"He is a fine man, highly ethical, a man of high integrity," Bush said.

Bush said she was speaking out after a British tabloid discredited a media investigation launched more than a year ago by Vanity Fair magazine into the background of Worthington, who bears a strong resemblance to the Kennedy family.

Earlier this week, Worthington showed the Globe and Mail his U.S.
